COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY
GENERAL POLICIES AND GUIDELINES

 
Thank you for making the decision to use Belle Meade Plantation as a commercial photography location for portraits and weddings.  Our goal is to provide you with an efficient, professional shoot in conjunction with our regular guest visitation.  Since our primary mission is the preservation of this beautiful property and the education of the visiting public about its purpose, your permit fee helps us preserve this wonderful property for use by future generations.  With this in mind, we have developed the following guidelines.  Please review them carefully.

  • Due to Belle Meade Plantation's (BMP) mission, our primary concern is our historic site and the guests that visit.  Therefore, all commercial photography on the property must be arranged in a manner that does not inconvenience our guests or intrude on their enjoyment of BMP.

 

  • Photographers will be required to register with BMP and pay a single or multiple use permit or annual fee.  Photographer must also book all appointments for the use of the property through the sales office.

 

  • The Permit must be visible on the camera tripod for BMP personnel at all times during the photo session.

 

  • All commercial photographers requesting the use of Belle Meade Plantation as a location for commercial shoots for advertising purposes must provide a minimum of two references from owners of past production locations.  Approval of the advertised product, as well as, the use of Belle Meade Plantation views in the promotional pieces, must first be received from BMP's Executive Committee and/or the Executive Director, prior to the issuance of a contract.  Different fee structures and guidelines apply.  Please contact the administrative office for guidelines and fees for commercial advertising photography.

 

  • Due to the potential damage to BMP, commercial photography is not permitted inside Belle Meade Plantation's buildings except with special permission from the BMP's Executive Committee and Board.

 

  • Because of proprietary policies concerning our recognizable buildings and gardens, commercial photographers may not use the full front view of Belle Meade Mansion or other BMP buildings.  Small portions of the Mansion and other buildings may be used as the background in close-up shots; however, a complete view of the front fa'ade of the Mansion may not be used.  Belle Meade Plantation reserves the right to determine what portion of Belle Meade Buildings are considered to be a complete fa'ade, that is recognizable to the public, and what PORTION A COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHER MAY USE.

 

  • Photography involves the use of Belle Meade Plantation views or the heavily trafficked areas outside Belle Meade Buildings is permitted only prior to or after regular visiting hours (before 9:00am or after 5:00pm).

 

  • There will be no photography allowed in designated areas during special BMP events, programs, shows or festivals.

 

  • Photography at Belle Meade Plantation cannot begin without both a signed contract between Belle Meade Plantation and the photographer, and prepayment of the appropriate permit fee.

 

  • Belle Meade Plantation reserves the right to limit the number and scheduling of shoot days per year.

 

  • There can be no alterations or changes to Belle Meade Plantation buildings, landscaping, or fixtures.  Any infractions lead to termination of the contract without refund and a fee for any damages incurred is included.

 

  • The permit holder will be required to reimburse BMP for any damages resulting from the use of the property.

 

  • If the permit holder is considering using the proprietary images associated with Belle Meade Plantation for publication then the Executive Director should first be notified.  Credit must be listed in any publication or reprint as follows, Location:  Belle Meade Plantation, Nashville, Tennessee, Nashville Chapter of the APTA.

 

  • Belle Meade Plantation is not responsible for security during commercial photography and is not responsible for the loss or damage to equipment.

 

  • Parking on paved entry roads or blocking roads is not permitted. All parking must be in designated parking areas.  Equipment can be dropped off in a location area but must be accompanied by personnel or representatives of the photographer.

 

  • Due to the liability associated with Richland Creek there will be restricted use of the creek for photographic purposes except through permission by the Executive Director and the Executive Committee.

 

  • The photographer agrees to hold Belle Meade Plantation and its representatives harmless against all liabilities.

 


Permits & Fees
Commercial Portrait & Wedding Photography

Commercial, portrait and wedding photography is permitted at Belle Meade Plantation through Permit only.  All photographers and wedding parties taking photos/videos on the Belle Meade Plantation property are required to obtain a photography permit.

Photography Permit Fee Structure
Single occurrence or single use fee is $50.

Multiple occurrence fee is $900 for up to 20 occurrences during year ($45 per shot).

Multiple occurrence fee is $1,600 for up to 40 occurrences during year ($40 per shot).

Multiple occurrence fee is $2,000 for more than 40 occurrences and less than 60.

Use of bridal dressing room is an additional $25/hour.

To receive the multiple occurrence fees photographers must pay in full for the fiscal year of July 1 through June 30. 

Installments for the multiple occurrence fees will be considered for smaller photographic firms.

Permits and photography general policies and guidelines are available at the Carriage House Administrative Offices.

The Permit is valid for one day only (except for multiple occurrence fees or if shoot is cancelled due to inclement weather.

The Belle Meade Plantation and Grounds are open from 9 AM to 5 PM.  The Executive Director or designee must approve arrangements and appointments for use of the property before or after these times.

The Permit fee is non-refundable.

The Permit must be visible for BMP personnel at all times during the photo session.

I ______________________have read the attached guidelines and regulations and am aware of all the responsibilities involved in using Belle Meade Plantation for commercial photography.  It is further understood and agreed that the individual or organization using the facility will hold the Association for Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (APTA), the Nashville Chapter of the APTA and Belle Meade Plantation harmless in any and all occurrences arising out of the use of the facilities under the terms of this agreement.
