Civil War at Belle Meade Plantation

Discover the Harding family's involvement and experiences in the war and its aftermath. The focus of the tour is on life during the Civil War with discussion centering on Middle Tennessee. Students participate in 19th century letter-writing as they read along from an original Civil War-era letter written by the plantation's mistress. Demonstrate logic, map reading skills, and teamwork while exploring the grounds and outbuildings during the scavenger hunt.
