September 1, 1835 Elizabeth Harding Clay dies.

 

September 1, 1879 Louise Jackson is born to Howell E. and Mary Elizabeth Harding Jackson.

 

September 7, 1882 Eunice, Selene, and William begin studies with Ms. Lizzie Elliot at Belle Meade.

 

September 9, 1814 General John Coffee’s troops stop at Belle Meade on their return trip from the battle of New Orleans.

 

September 9, 1832 Nathaniel Adams McNairy dies.

 

September 12, 1845 Susannah Shute Harding dies and is interred in the burial vault at Belle Meade

 

September 12, 1862 Robert Green is shot and wounded by Union soldiers while preventing the theft of the horses.
